For the inaugural awards, nominees are drawn from the places where romance has always lived: storied cities and hidden coastlines, lake villas and lantern-lit streets, the addresses lovers have whispered about for generations, and a few the world has not yet discovered.
The Scoring System
Traditional luxury is assumed. What we measure is rarer: the qualities that make a stay intimate, beautiful, and impossible to forget.
Architecture, interiors, lighting, gardens, views, scent, visual identity, and the overall beauty of the property.
How effectively the hotel creates intimacy, enchantment, privacy, wonder, and a sense of occasion.
Warmth, discretion, attentiveness, personalization, elegance, and the staff’s ability to make guests feel cared for without intrusion.
Suites, bathrooms, terraces, pools, spas, fireplaces, bathtubs, bedding, privacy, and in-room romantic details.
Restaurants, bars, breakfast, room service, spa, wellness, nearby experiences, and the romantic appeal of the destination itself.
The hotel’s uniqueness, story, emotional signature, and ability to remain vivid in a guest’s memory long after the stay.
Only hotels that meet the highest standard of romance, beauty, and hospitality will receive the award.
The Nomination Process
Nominations arrive from Evie’s editors, from travel experts and readers, from those who know hotels intimately, and from the properties themselves. Submission is an introduction, not a guarantee.
A property presents itself: its rooms and rituals, its setting and story, and the romance it makes possible for the guests who choose it.
Evie’s editors weigh each property against the scoring framework, with editorial standards, destination, and the feeling of the stay itself in mind.
Honored hotels are celebrated across Evie’s editorial coverage, social media, newsletters, and the awards’ own announcements, and winners carry the official emblem across their digital and marketing materials.
